Overspeed

Overspeed nasce dal desiderio di fermare il tempo. Di raccogliere, in un unico fotolibro, gli scatti più intensi, rumorosi, polverosi, vivi—quelli che hanno segnato il mio percorso fotografico fino al 2022.

Ho scelto di seguire le Road Races internazionali, alcune tappe dei mondiali “dirt” e quegli eventi che, anno dopo anno, conservano un fascino che non scolora mai: il Bol d’Or, il Classic TT, l’European Endurance. Ho raccontato anche le storiche, i Sidecar e naturalmente il Tourist Trophy, che per me non è solo una corsa: è la corsa. Quella che mi ha cambiato lo sguardo, che nel 2012 ha ridisegnato il mio modo di fotografare e di vivere lo sport, trasformando una passione nata nel 2001 in qualcosa di più grande, più profondo.

Questo libro non è un punto di arrivo, ma un modo per chiudere un cerchio e, forse, aprirne un altro. Dentro ci sono chilometri di strada, migliaia di curve, ore di attesa e attimi che durano un click. Ma soprattutto, c’è il mio modo di guardare questo mondo: diretto, appassionato, sempre in movimento.

Overspeed was born from the desire to bring together, in a single photo book, the most thrilling moments captured throughout the racing seasons leading up to 2022.

My focus naturally gravitated toward the world of International Road Races, selected rounds of the dirt world championships, and iconic events with enduring appeal—such as the Bol d’Or, Classic TT, and European Endurance. The collection also features historic races and the unmistakable thrill of Sidecar competitions at the Tourist Trophy.

In many ways, this project closes a personal circle. It was the Tourist Trophy that first ignited my passion for motorsport photography—an event that, for me, remains the most beautiful of all. In 2012, it marked a turning point in my creative journey, shifting my focus from action sports, which I had followed since 2001, to the high-octane world of road racing.

Avrei voluto una mappa non basata solo sui racconti, sulle ricerche e sugli studi fatti. Da quel desiderio nasce questo libro che non vuol esser una guida, ma semplicemente un indicatore, come lo è il segnale di una curva per un pilota: "questo è quello che ti troverai davanti". Tutto qui, ne più ne meno.

Le Road Races, sono diametralmente opposte alla corse su pista, ci sono decine di punti per assaporare una sola curva. Comprate una mappa, una radio, e ricordate che l'elicottero segue la testa della corsa. Le foto sono in ordine di percorrenza. Seguite il vostro istinto e vedete il più possibile. Spanning five years and over 200 photographs, this book traces a journey through some of the most iconic Road Races in the world: the Tourist Trophy, North West 200, Ulster GP, Manx GP, Classic TT, and Post TT Races.

What I set out to create wasn’t just a collection of photos—or a map built on hearsay, research, or borrowed tips. This isn’t a guidebook. It’s a suggestion, a visual hint. Like a marshal’s flag waved from the roadside, it doesn’t tell the whole story—it simply shows you where to look. Nothing more, nothing less.

Road Races are a world apart from circuit racing. There’s no single way to experience a corner, no fixed vantage point. Each location offers infinite perspectives. So bring a map, tune into a radio, and keep your eyes on the sky—the helicopter always follows the front of the race.

The images in this book follow the rhythm of the races themselves, presented in chronological order. My advice? Trust your instincts. Let the sounds, the people, the tension guide you. Chase the thrill. Find your corner, your light, your Road Race.
